Minecraft

Minecraft is a root advancement in the Minecraft tab of Minecraft's advancement system, carrying the in-game description "The heart and story of the game." As the root of the Minecraft tab, it sits at the very top of this branch and is what every other Minecraft advancement ultimately descends from. The Minecraft tab covers the main story progression tree. Minecraft was added in Minecraft 1.12 and is still in the 26.2 advancement set.

It is rated Easy difficulty on this site: can be completed quickly with minimal resources. Good for beginners. Roots cannot be un-earned and exist mainly to unlock the visible tree, so the real progression begins with the advancements hanging beneath it. One further advancement, Stone Age, is gated behind it.

Within the 16 advancements that make up the Minecraft tab, Minecraft is the single entry that requires nothing before it. Unlocking it is the gateway to that whole set, so it is usually the first Minecraft advancement any player earns.

Minecraft grants no experience directly; as a root advancement its purpose is to open the tab rather than to reward you.

Earning it unlocks Stone Age, which becomes the next step along this branch of the tree.

Completing every advancement beneath this root clears the entire Minecraft tab, which contains 16 advancements in total, 0 of them flagged as challenges and 1 as goals. Working down from Minecraft in tree order is the most efficient way to clear the tab without backtracking.
