Husbandry
The world is full of friends and food
Overview
Husbandry is a root advancement in the Husbandry tab of Minecraft's advancement system, carrying the in-game description "The world is full of friends and food." As the root of the Husbandry tab, it sits at the very top of this branch and is what every other Husbandry advancement ultimately descends from. The Husbandry tab covers advancements related to farming, animal breeding, food, and the natural world. Husbandry was added in Minecraft 1.12 and remains part of the current 1.21 advancement set.
It is rated Easy difficulty on this site: can be completed quickly with minimal resources. Good for beginners. Roots cannot be un-earned and exist mainly to unlock the visible tree, so the real progression begins with the advancements hanging beneath it. 14 further advancements branch out of it: Bee Our Guest, The Parrots and the Bats, Best Friends Forever, A Seedy Place, Fishy Business, The Cutest Predator, Glow and Behold!, Whatever Floats Your Goat!, Wax On, With Our Powers Combined!, Birthday Song, Planting the Past, Bukkit Bukkit, and Smells Interesting.
Within the 26 advancements that make up the Husbandry tab, Husbandry is the single entry that requires nothing before it. Unlocking it is the gateway to that whole set, so it is usually the first Husbandry advancement any player earns.
How to Complete Husbandry

Tips & Fastest Route
- Fastest route: Eat any food item at all, even rotten flesh.
- This root opens the whole farming, breeding and animal-collection tree.
- This is one of the more approachable Husbandry advancements, so it is a good early target while you build toward the harder entries deeper in the branch.
Common Mistakes
Husbandry has no common pitfalls beyond following the steps above; once its prerequisite is done it tracks reliably.
Reward & What It Unlocks
Husbandry grants no experience directly; as a root advancement its purpose is to open the tab rather than to reward you.
Earning it unlocks 14 follow-on advancements — Bee Our Guest, The Parrots and the Bats, Best Friends Forever, A Seedy Place, Fishy Business, The Cutest Predator, Glow and Behold!, Whatever Floats Your Goat!, Wax On, With Our Powers Combined!, Birthday Song, Planting the Past, Bukkit Bukkit, and Smells Interesting — each of which becomes trackable only once Husbandry is complete.
Completing every advancement beneath this root clears the entire Husbandry tab, which contains 26 advancements in total — 4 of them flagged as challenges and 1 as goals. Working down from Husbandry in tree order is the most efficient way to clear the tab without backtracking.
