EASY ADVANCEMENTS

In the order a new world brings them

None of the 38 easy advancements gives experience, and Hired Help is the only goal among them. The game checks every advancement on its own, so the rows below simply follow the order they tend to come in. Most of them need nothing more than your first few days in a world.

Wood and stone

A crafting table in your inventory gives Minecraft. Picking up cobblestone, cobbled deepslate or blackstone gives Stone Age, and a stone pickaxe gives Getting an Upgrade.

The first nights

Killing any mob, or getting killed, opens Adventure, and a hostile mob also counts for Monster Hunter. Eating or drinking anything but cake opens Husbandry. An arrow that hits a mob gives Take Aim, and lying down in a bed gives Sweet Dreams, even when the night isn't skipped.

Iron

An iron ingot from anywhere, a chest included, counts for Acquire Hardware. One piece of iron armor gives Suit Up, an iron pickaxe Isn't It Iron Pick and a bucket of lava Hot Stuff. A shield takes six planks and an iron ingot, and blocking any projectile with it gives Not Today, Thank You.

Farms and animals

A Seedy Place counts wheat, pumpkin, melon, beetroot, nether wart, torchflower and pitcher pod, but not carrots or potatoes. Any pair of animals you breed gives The Parrots and the Bats, and any animal you tame gives Best Friends Forever. Catching cod, salmon, pufferfish or tropical fish with a rod gives Fishy Business, and scooping one up in a water bucket gives Tactical Fishing.

Obsidian and the Nether

Obsidian only drops when you mine it with a diamond or netherite pickaxe, and having one gives Ice Bucket Challenge. Arriving in the Nether gives We Need to Go Deeper and Nether at the same moment. Piglins live in Nether wastes, crimson forests and bastions: take off any gold armor and throw an adult piglin a gold ingot for Oh Shiny.

Villages and pillagers

Any finished trade gives What a Deal!, and a wandering trader counts too. Four iron blocks in a T with a carved pumpkin placed last on top build the golem for Hired Help. Firing a crossbow gives Ol' Betsy, and killing a pillager with a crossbow shot gives Who's the Pillager Now?

Twelve that need a detour

The other twelve are just as quick once you stand in the right place with the right item, but several of those places are biomes you can go a long time without passing.

A spyglass in a jungle

Parrots live in jungles and bamboo jungles. Look at one through a spyglass, an amethyst shard on top of two copper ingots, for Is It a Bird?

A brush in a savanna or badlands

Brushing an armadillo gives Isn't It Scute? A brush is a feather, a copper ingot and a stick.

Snowy mountains

Powder snow lies in groves and on snowy slopes, and walking on it in leather boots gives Light as a Rabbit. Goats live on snowy slopes and on jagged and frozen peaks; get one into your boat or bamboo raft for Whatever Floats Your Goat!

Slimeballs in a swamp

Frogs spawn in swamps and mangrove swamps, but tadpoles never do. Feed two frogs slimeballs, wait for the frogspawn to hatch and catch a tadpole in a water bucket for Bukkit Bukkit.

Honey

With a lit campfire below a full bee nest or beehive, a glass bottle collects honey safely for Bee Our Guest. Four honey bottles make a honey block, and sliding down its side gives Sticky Situation.

Copper

Honeycomb on unwaxed copper gives Wax On, and an axe scraping the wax off again gives Wax Off. For Lighten Up the copper bulb has to be switched on and at least partly oxidized when the axe scrapes it.

A glow ink sac

Use it on any sign, hanging signs included, for Glow and Behold! Glow squids drop it, and they only spawn in completely dark water below Y 30.

Wolf armor and shears

Wolf armor takes six armadillo scutes. Put it on a wolf you tamed and shear it off again for Shear Brilliance; only the owner can do that.
