Bullseye
Hit the bullseye of a Target block from at least 30 meters away
Overview
Bullseye is a challenge advancement in the Adventure tab of Minecraft's advancement system, carrying the in-game description "Hit the bullseye of a Target block from at least 30 meters away." It branches directly off Take Aim, so that earlier advancement is its prerequisite and must be earned first. The Adventure tab covers advancements focused on exploration, combat, trading, and interacting with the world and its inhabitants. Bullseye was added in Minecraft 1.16, from the Nether Update, and remains part of the current 1.21 advancement set.
It is rated Medium difficulty on this site: requires some preparation or specific resources. Part of normal gameplay progression. Because it is flagged as a challenge advancement, completing Bullseye makes a special toast and a sound play, and its frame in the advancement screen is the magenta challenge style rather than a normal square. Challenges are the hardest tier and usually represent a milestone rather than routine progress. Nothing else in the tree depends on it, so it is a leaf at the tip of its branch.
In tree terms, Bullseye sits third along its line: the full path from the Adventure root reads Adventure -> Monster Hunter -> Take Aim -> Bullseye. That means 3 advancements must be completed before this one becomes available, and Bullseye is one of 40 total advancements in the Adventure tab. It shares its parent, Take Aim, with one sibling, Sniper Duel, which unlocks from the same point.
How to Complete Bullseye
Earning Bullseye comes down to the following, performed in order:
- Craft a target block from 4 redstone dust and 1 hay bale.
- Place it and hit the center (bullseye) with a projectile from at least 30 blocks away.
- Use a bow with good aim.
Tips & Fastest Route
- Fastest route: Hit the centre of a target block with a projectile from 30+ blocks away.
- Craft the target from 4 redstone and a hay bale, then back up 30 blocks and aim for the dead centre.
- A fully-drawn bow and a slight upward arc help land the centre ring at distance.
- Make sure Take Aim is already ticked off before you start, otherwise Bullseye will not be tracked even if you perform the steps correctly.
- As a challenge advancement this is best saved until you are well-equipped; rushing Bullseye underprepared is the usual reason attempts fail, so gather everything the steps above require before you commit.
Common Mistakes
- Remember that Bullseye will not appear as available until Take Aim is done, since the game only tracks an advancement once its parent has been unlocked.
Reward & What It Unlocks
Completing Bullseye grants 50 experience points, reflecting its status as a challenge — challenge advancements pay out far more XP than ordinary tasks. The XP drops at your position the moment the advancement fires.
It is a leaf advancement, so nothing further unlocks from it; it stands as a completed tip of its branch.
